NFL Opening Lines – Week 6
It was a zany week of upsets and comebacks with the Dolphins winning outright again and the Colts rallying again to snatch ATS victory from the jaws of defeat. The opening NFL odds reflect some of that turmoil.
Houston hosts Miami this week and is favored by 3 points. Miami has won two games in a row and the Texans are looking for their first victory. There is also a QB controversy in Houston, as fans are tired of seeing Matt Schaub lead them to losses.
They also grew weary of Sage Rosenfels handing the Colts a win in the fourth quarter.
Miami is playing well and the Texans are not. So, the game is in the Lone Star State. Who cares? If you are looking to bet on the Dolphins, bet early, as the line may move closer to even, as the public is not going to put money on a winless team that is in turmoil.
Green Bay travels to the Great Northwest to play Seattle, which is favored by 2.5 points in Week 6 opening odds. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has had a week to heal and he should be near 100% for this game.
The Seahawks are only 1-3, their receiving corps has been decimated by injury, and their defense ranks 27th in the league. Green Bay’s only loss to a mediocre team came last week losing to Atlanta, but Rodgers was injured.
Look for the line to move closer to even, so if you want to bet on the Packers wager now and if you want to bet on the Seahawks wait a little, as you may get a more favorable line.
Winless Cincinnati travels to play the New York Jets, who are favored by only 6 points. Last week the Jets had a bye week and the Bengals lost to the Cowboys 31-22.
You think the public is going to bet on a winless team against a Brett Favre led team after they had a bye week? The line will probably go up in this game and if you want to take the Jets bet now.
And beware the Eagles in San Francisco. Brian Westbrook has broken ribs and Philly is not the same team without their dynamic tailback in the lineup. Keep an eye on his status through the week.
