NFL player prop analysis

Chris Johnson’s run at the record books continues today and he could make a big push against the St. Louis Rams porous run defense.

Johnson enters Week 14 with an NFL-best 1509 yards rushing this season. That leaves him 596 yards behind Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record of 2105 yards with four games remaining. To eclipse Dickerson, Johnson will need to average 149 yards per game the rest of the way.

Johnson could easily surpass the 149-yard mark today against a Rams defense that is surrendering 146.2 rushing yards per game this season.

Last week against the Colts Johnson had what was considered a disappointing day when he rushed for only 113 yards on 27 carries. Look for him to beat that today especially after his rushing yards prop total at Bovada was set at 132.5 yards. Both the Over and the Under are listed at -115 odds. Versus the Rams I’ll take the Over and hope for Johnson to bust off a couple big runs to come close to 200 yards today.

NFL Props odds – What’s wrong with Adrian Peterson?

While Johnson has continued to tear holes through the defenses the back everyone expected to lead the league in rushing, Adrian Peterson, is floundering. An ankle injury may be what’s hampering Peterson’s production, as he’s failed to top 100 yards rushing in his last three games. Last week was particularly bad, as the Cardinals limited Peterson to only 19 yards on 13 carries.

Today Peterson and the Vikings clash with Cincinnati. That’s definitely not a good matchup for the struggling Peterson, as the Bengals currently have the No. rush defense in the NFL, allowing 81.8 yards per game.

Despite his recent trouble and the Bengals solid record against the run the oddsmakers at Bovada have set Peterson’s rushing yards prop total pretty high at 95.5. Of course the Under is favored at -130, while the Over comes in at Even money. Until Peterson shows he has his old dominance back I’d roll with the Under.
