NFL Week 14 opening lines could see whopper in Tennessee

Brady Quinn gone. Derek Anderson gone. Ken Dorsey is in. Anyone think that makes Cleveland a good bet to cover the 13.5-point spread at Tennessee in Week 14?

Didn’t think so. The former Miami U alum threw one pass in 2006 and three so far in 2008 with zero completions, hardly indicators of a huge passing day for the Browns Sunday. But maybe this means they grind the clock with the running game and the odds actually favor the Browns?

Best value in Week 14 opening odds

The biggest point spread this week is Cleveland at Tennessee at -13.5 and it may go up (although it was strangely bet down from the 14.5-point open).

Cleveland has been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season and now with injuries to their top two QBs, they are down to their third string QB. OK, so the Titans did lose their first game a couple weeks back, but they dropped 47 points on Detroit on Thanksgiving and they have the fifth ranked defense in the NFL.

Cleveland cannot stop the run, which is the strength of the Titans’ offense. Even with the big spread, the public may not want to bet on the Browns playing away and starting their third-string QB.

If you want to lay some green on the Titans, it’s possible 13.5 points is a bargain and this number could increase during the week.

Kansas City at Denver -9

Another big spread that may go up is Kansas City at Denver -9. The Chiefs rank last in the NFL on defense, while the Broncos have the second-ranked offense. The Broncos can score a ton of points and the Chiefs cannot.

Expect the line to go up further in this game, so if you want to bet on the Broncos take the line now. Folks who believe KC’s rare win in Week 13 was a sign of things to come, you get a lot of points to play with on your NFL bet.

Jacksonville at Chicago -4

Jacksonville has lost three games in a row and they face a Bears team still in the NFC North hunt. Chicago has the league’s 16th ranked defense, but they are especially tough against the run.

The Jaguars do not have a great offense and their defense has trouble stopping the run. The Bears have a legit rushing offense led by rookie RB Matt Forte, who ranks fifth in the league in rushing yards.

The public may not want to bet on a struggling team playing away from home against a playoff contender, especially one that is popular like the Bears. If you want to bet on the Bears take the line now, as it may go up, especially with the limp Jaguars performance on Monday night fresh in everyone’s minds.

NY Jets -4 at San Francisco

OK, so the 49ers did beat Buffalo last week in an exciting, yawn, 10-6 game, but now they face a Jets team, which is a bad match up for them. The 49ers have the league’s 23rd ranked defense, but they are one of the worst teams in defending the pass.

That is not a good thing with a guy named Favre coming to town. He will pick apart the 49ers secondary and the current 4-point spread is a favorable one for San Fran.

The 49ers rank 26th offensively, so they will not put up a lot of points. If you want to bet on the Jets take the line now, as it may go up. Looking for NFL picks for Week 14 games to help you beat the odds? We have the experts. BUY NOW!
