Big Ben Odds in NFL Week 6

The NFL has been an underdog league over the last three weeks as underdogs have covered the spread over 65% of the time and won outright over 50% of the time over that span.

Last week, there were six underdogs of seven points or more, and four of the six not only covered but won straight up as well. Will big favorites continue to fall in Week 6?

There are two double-digit favorites on the board this week in the Pittsburgh Steelers -14.0 (opened at -13.0) over the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants -10.0 (opened at -8.0) over the Detroit Lions, both at home.

While early line movement has moved against the Browns, bettors will have a hard time passing on the +14.0 as the week goes on. Even with Ben Roethlisberger’s return likely sparking Pittsburgh’s offense, this is still a division rivalry game, and Cleveland has kept all four of their losses within 10 points.

The game will also feature plenty of Big Ben odds as sportsbooks create special Week 6 props to welcome back the suspended pivot.

New York on the other hand may continue to see the line move against them as it already has a full two points. Bettors don’t appear to be too impressed with Detroit’s blowout win over St. Louis or their 4-1 record ATS.

The Giants have won by 14+ points two straight weeks against strong opponents (Chicago and Houston), and Detroit failed to cover the last time they were a double-digit underdog (+13.0 in a 24-10 loss to Minnesota).

Other opening line favorites of a touchdown or more are San Diego -8.5 (opened at -7.5) on the road over St. Louis, Chicago -7.0 at home over Seattle, and San Francisco -6.0 (opened at -7.0) at home over Oakland.

Considering St. Louis is coming off a blowout loss to Detroit and San Diego has bounced back nicely coming off losses this year, action may continue to come in on the Chargers. On the other hand, San Diego is 0-2 ATS and SU on the road and St. Louis is 2-0 ATS and SU in their last two at home, so it could end up going the other way, too.

Chicago will likely see the line move against them as Seattle has been awful on the road this year and the Bears are coming off a nice win at Carolina. San Francisco on the other hand will likely make a better bet later in the week, as underdog bettors will continue to take the points on Oakland against the 0-5 49ers.

Other opening lines this week include home favorites New England -3.0 over Baltimore, Houston -4.0 (now -5.0) over Kansas City, and road favorites New Orleans -4.0 (now -5.0) over Tampa Bay, Indianapolis -3.0 over Washington, and Tennessee -3.0 over Jacksonville.
