Bills vs Browns: NFL Preseason Betting

The Buffalo Bills are listed as road underdogs at the online sportsbooks for their ESPN preseason primetime matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night as they try to further sort out their quarterback situation.

At 5Dimes the Bills are listed as 3-point underdogs on the NFL odds for Thursday's game, and the contest should be another showcase for the team's three-man competition to be the starting quarterback to begin the regular season.

Or possibly two-man competition, with EJ Manuel having slipped well behind both Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor in the Bills' quarterback battle. Cassel was the frontrunner to be the starter heading into camp, but Taylor has performed well when on the field this summer.

Editor's Note: The Bills have announced that Cassel won't play on Thursday.

Buffalo won't have running back LeSean McCoy in uniform on Thursday night, as he's out with a hamstring injury. The Bills lost 25-24 at home to Carolina in their preseason opener last Friday night as a 3-point favorite on the betting lines.

The Browns, meanwhile, fell 20-17 at home to Washington as a 1-point favorite in their preseason opener last Thursday night. Cleveland is expected to have Josh McCown open the season as their starting quarterback, with Johnny Manziel pegged as the backup unless he wows the team over the rest of the exhibition slate.

The Browns and Bills have met eight times in the regular season since 2004 according to the OddsShark NFL Database, with the teams splitting those results right down the middle at 4-4 both SU and ATS. The OVER/UNDER went 3-5 in those contests, and 5Dimes has Thursday's total at 40 points.

The two teams last met in the preseason way back in 2006, with the Browns winning 20-17 as a 3.5-point road underdog in Buffalo in an OVER result for totals bettors.

The latest Super Bowl 50 odds at 5Dimes have the Bills at +5500 to win the championship and the Browns as even bigger longshots at +20000. Buffalo is also at +485 to win the AFC East, with Cleveland at +1125 to win the AFC North.
