Visiting Teams Have a Habit of Covering in Panthers-Bills Meetings

The Carolina Panthers had a season to forget in 2016, but they started the new campaign off on the right foot in the wake of a 23-3 rout of the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. Next up on the docket for Cam Newton and company is a home date with the Buffalo Bills.

Shark Bites
  • The Bills are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games in Week 2.
  • The Bills are 0-14 SU in their last 14 games as an underdog of 8.0 or more.
  • The Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.

Sportsbook opened the Panthers as 7-point favorites with a total of 42.5.

The former MVP Newton did enough to get by in the season opener, throwing for 171 yards on 14-of-25 passing to go along with a couple of touchdowns. Carolina’s offense as a whole struggled to get off the ground, however, as the group mustered up only 287 total yards against the woeful 49ers defense.

Panthers bettors won’t be happy seeing the Bills travel south due to recent trends. In the last five games between the Panthers and Bills, the visiting team is 4-1 ATS.

The Bills circled the wagons in a 21-12 triumph over the division rival New York Jets in Week 1, but it’s hard to gauge them based on that victory alone. New York is almost surely going to be one of the worst squads in the league this season, so any team that beats the Jets shouldn’t get too high on themselves.

Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who suffered a late concussion in the preseason, fared well in his season debut by completing 16 of 28 passes for 224 yards and two scores through the air. The versatile QB also added eight rushing attempts for 38 yards. LeSean McCoy’s status as the team’s undisputed offensive weapon was on display, as the veteran rushed for 110 yards on 22 carries.

The Bills went 3-5 SU on the road last year (3-4-1 ATS), but they were an extremely reliable OVER play. Buffalo finished the 2016 campaign by going OVER the total in 12 of 16 tilts.
