Packers Have Owned Bears SU but Have Not Been Covering

Bears fans have not had much to celebrate over the last few seasons but it seems to be coming to a head this year. They will take on the underachieving Packers on Thursday night in Week 7 action at Lambeau Field looking for their first road win of the season.

SHARK BITES
  • The Bears are 2-10 SU in their last 12 games against the Packers.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of the Packers' last 9 games at home.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 12 of the Bears' last 17 games against the Packers.

Green Bay has gone into all of its games as the favorite so far and opened up laying nine points to the visiting Bears this week. The Packers have covered the spread just once this season and they managed that feat by just half a point against the Lions. G-Bay has owned the Bears straight up for quite a while but the points in this seems like a tough bet unless they drop drastically.

The Packers haven’t beaten a team by more than seven points in the 2016 regular season and actually have one of the worst offenses in the league, having scored over 30 points just once. Chicago has lost just two games by more than nine points this year and in the last one gave up 447 yards of offense. For the season, the Bears have allowed just 341.2 so if the Packers hope to cover on Thursday, they may have to have their best offensive performance of the year.

I have pretty low expectations that this game turns into a shootout and based on the UNDER trends and the offensive anemia these teams have demonstrated in the first third of this NFL season, I have little faith the Bears, who average 16.8 points per game, and the Packers, who average 22.8 points per game, can combine to eclipse a total in the mid- to high 40s.

Opening Odds & Computer Pick

The point spread was settled in at -9 for the host Green Bay Packers earlier in the week, according to Bovada. The over under betting line was hovering around 47, with odds movement expected during the week at MyBookie.

A 30-15 result in favor of the Packers is the prediction by the Odds Shark handicapping pick engine. View the computer score prediction and who will win the pick on the moneyline for all upcoming NFL matchups here.
