Consensus Picks: Steelers and Texans

When more than 70 percent of the NFL betting public is on one side of the game, bettors must sit up and ask why.

And that's the scenario Saturday in Week 3 of the NFL preseason schedule when both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans are seeing so much betting action.

The Steelers are favored at Buffalo by 2.5 points (where the best Pitt line earlier today was at Bovada and the best Bills line was at Bovada). Week 3 is often where more veterans and regulars get a significant taste of action.

Does this betting situation indicate the public public believes heavily in Pittsburgh (or at least relative to the Bills?)

It's a different situation for the Texans, who are road underdogs at New Orleans. TopBet had the best Houston line while the best Saints number had been at 5Dimes, according to the matchup report data.

Houston thinks it has a shot at the Super Bowl while the Saints are still reeling from Bountygate and figuring out new personnel. [ Current Super Bowl betting lines ]

In other Saturday action, the first Andrew Luck vs Robert Griffin III battle goes in Washington. The Redskins are favored at homne against the Colts in an afternoon matchup.

Detroit visits Oakland and St. Louis travels to Dallas in the other Saturday games. The Lions are road chalk of 3 points while the Rams are currently +5.5 at the Cowboys.
