Eagles vs. Texans Betting
It’s been a long time since betting on the playmaking skills of Michael Vick has been a winning proposition, but with a 9-point spread to cover against the Houston Texans this Thursday night at Bovada the Philadelphia Eagles could be easy money at home.
Despite throwing his first interception since 2006 last week, Michael Vick and his league-leading 106.0 passer rating should have a big day against a Texans defense that ranks 28th in the league. Only the Patriots are worse against the pass than the Texans are this season, setting the stage for Vick to put up big numbers in the air.
And we know that when Vick has success with the pass, especially early in a game, the field opens up for him to move the ball on the ground.

The Eagles have averaged 23.4 points per game on offense so far this season, while Houston’s average is slightly better at 26.1 points per game. The total for the game sits at 51 points at Sportsbook.ag and is only two points bigger than their combined average.
When one considers the less than stellar defense on both teams, choosing OVER betting looks like the way to go on Thursday night.
The Texans have played four OVERs in five road games in 2010, while the Eagles are a money-losing 2-9 ATS past 11 games vs AFC South teams.
Philadelphia is coming off a tough loss to the Chicago Bears last week where they squandered three of four red zone opportunities, including the Vick interception. The Eagles have had difficulty in the red zone all season and will need to find a way to get the ball into the end zone if they’re going to have a big day against the Texans.
That red zone tidbit might offer an edge in betting props action at Bovada. They’re offering 11/4 on the first scoring play of the game. If the Eagles can win a coin flip, and they’re having difficulty scoring touchdowns from the red zone, 11/4 on a Philly field goal to open the scoring looks live to us.

The same edge might be there on the field goal props. If either teams kicks a field goal longer than 44.5 yards the OVER bet will pay -115. Also, an OVER bet on 3.5 successful field goals during the game will pay +145. View all props available here.
Houston is looking to keep its playoff hopes alive with a win in Philly following an impressive shutout win at home against Tennessee last week. It’s obvious that this team has been underperforming, but little has been done to turn that around. It could be Coach Kubiak’s job on the line if the Texans don’t soon return to the form they showed in the first six games of the season.
