Colts Have Owned Matchups With Broncos

Now that Peyton Manning has ridden off into the sunset of retirement, matchups between the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos have taken on a totally different outlook. They’ll collide again in Week 2 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone OVER in nine of the Colts' last 11 games against the Broncos.
  • The Colts are 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games as an underdog of 6.0 or less.
  • The total has gone OVER in six of the Colts' last eight games as underdog.

Sportsbooks opened the Broncos as 4.5-point favorites, but the line was steadily on the rise immediately after. The total for the contest was sitting at 45 at the time of writing.

Denver picked up where it left off from last year’s Super Bowl-winning campaign. The Broncos once again toppled the Panthers in the opening game of the 2016 campaign, where newly named starting quarterback Trevor Siemian threw for 178 yards and a touchdown to go along with two interceptions. Denver’s ferocious defense was once again on display, as Cam Newton and company were smothered on multiple occasions.

The Colts defense was inept in every sense of the word in the team’s 39-35 defeat to the Detroit Lions. Andrew Luck was fantastic in a four-touchdown performance, but Indy couldn’t stop anything and essentially threw away the game. As much as Colts fans and backers don’t want to admit it, this could very easily become the theme of their season.

This series has been extremely one-sided lately. In the last nine contests between the Colts and Broncos, Indianapolis is 8-1 SU and 9-0 ATS. Chuck Pagano’s squad edged Denver 27-24 in their last meeting in early November of 2015.
