Line Moves: Chargers Chalk vs. Jets

While most of the games on this week’s NFL betting card have had a line movement of only a half-point or none at all so far, five have seen significant line movements of two or more points.

Here’s an inside look at those five games with the significant line movements in Week 7. From these line movements, it would appear that football bettors were not too impressed with last week’s Monday Night Football game between New York and Miami.

San Diego Chargers @ New York Jets (from -1.5 to +2.0 at TopBet)

Bettors were quick to jump on San Diego as a road dog against New York, and bet them hard enough to make them a small favorite. The Jets are 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last six against the Chargers.

Denver Broncos @ Miami Dolphins (from -3.0 to PK at 5Dimes)

The combination of Miami’s awful performance on offense Monday night and the start of the Tim Tebow era has apparently prompted bettors to take the points on Denver. Tebow had two fourth quarter touchdowns against San Diego.

Chicago Bears @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from -1.5 to +1.0 at Bovada)

Tampa Bay just beat New Orleans at home last week, but early bettors jumped on Chicago. Interestingly, despite the 2.5-point line move against them, 56% of bettors in the OddsShark game matchup like Tampa Bay to cover.

St. Louis Rams @ Dallas Cowboys (from -10.5 to -13.0 at BetOnline)

Dallas has had a knack for losing some tough games, but bettors don’t seem too worried against the pitiful Rams, who are 0-5 SU and ATS. They traded for Brandon Lloyd to try and improve the offense.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders (from -3.5 to -5.5 at TopBet)

In the week’s biggest splash, Oakland traded for recently-retired quarterback Carson Palmer. Bettors don’t appear to be too worried about rust as the trade brought in action on the Raiders.

While there were some minor half-point line fluctuations in many games this week, the only other game with a full-point line movement was Atlanta @ Detroit (from -4.5 to -3.5 at 5Dimes).
