Rams will try to put the nail in the coffin for the Cards’ season

The Arizona Cardinals are clinging to a slim hope of making the playoffs in the NFC and if they can miraculously win all of their remaining games, they’ve got a shot. Well, that’s easier said than done with the Los Angeles Rams coming to town. The Rams have the second-best offense in the NFL and are 6-2 SU in their last eight games. The Cards opened as 6-point home dogs against their divisional rival.

SHARK BITES
  • The favored team is 3-1 SU and ATS in the last four games in this matchup.
  • The Cardinals are 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven games against their division at home.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Arizona’s last 10 games.

Say what you will about Blaine Gabbert but he’s held his own in his two starts this season. The former first-round pick has been thrown into the fire while filling in for quarterback Carson Palmer and surprisingly was able to manage 27 points on the Jaguars’ top-ranked defense. If Arizona plans to have any shot at neutralizing the Rams’ potent offense, it will start with their run defense, which ranks in the top 10 in rushing yards allowed this season (100 yards per game). Where they’re getting exploited is through the air. The Cards allow over 232 yards passing to opposing quarterbacks and opposing teams are scoring an average of 25 points per game. While Arizona might keep this game close, bettors shouldn’t feel confident for the Cards to win outright.

The Rams kept on rolling in Week 12, manhandling New Orleans and establishing themselves as a team that nobody wants to see in the playoffs. Jared Goff continued to run head coach Sean McVay’s offense masterfully, throwing for 354 yards and two touchdowns vs the improved Saints defense. While the Rams should win this game, the disturbing trend for Los Angeles backers is they’re 1-5 ATS in their last six games vs teams in their division.

The total opened at 45.5 in this divisional matchup and the trends are pointing toward an UNDER. The total has gone UNDER in three of the last four games in this matchup and, surprisingly, in four of the Rams’ last five games. Expect a snooze-fest in this one.
