Dolphins Hope for Moore With New Man Under Center

A really ugly-looking mid-week matchup between the Ravens and Dolphins means that REAL Thursday Night Football is back. The total for this one could close as the lowest in the recent history of TNF and according to the trends, that means we’re in for a rough broadcast.

SHARK BITES
  • 37 would be the lowest total in the NFL since 2014.
  • The Dolphins are 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games against the Ravens.
  • The Dolphins are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games at night.

Prior to this week, the five contests that had the lowest totals in TNF history all went UNDER and the average final total in those games was an eye-stabbing, bleach-drinking 26.4 points. So, are we about to witness a Thursday night punt fest? Maybe not.

The OVER/UNDER record for TNF this season is 5-2 and even with those two UNDERs, games have gone OVER their closing total by an average of seven points. Defenses are having a hard time getting recovered with the short week and new rules that limit how much teams can practice are affecting their readiness.

Miami’s offense actually looked respectable against the Jets once Matt Moore entered for an injured Jay Cutler and that should continue when Jay Ajayi and the Fish go up against the NFL’s worst rush defense.

The 24-year-old sophomore rusher out of Boise State by way of London, England is having a bit of a rough season but his 130-yard performance against the Falcons in Week 6 reminded us what he’s capable of. Expect Moore to lean heavily on his lead back and mix in play-action once the run is established.

If those two things happen, this total could be smashed and the Dolphins could break a long streak of failing to cover the spread against the Ravens.
