Monday Night Football Betting Numbers You Can't Ignore

When it comes to betting the Monday nighter in the NFL, favorites have not been kind to your wallet – especially home favorites.

Underdogs are now 17-6 against the spread going back to last season in Monday Night Football, including 4-2 so far this season. Going back to 2012, dogs are a lucrative wager at 45-23 against the spread for an incredible winning rate of 66.1 percent. Road dogs are 31-15 ATS over that time frame.

That’s huge.

I don’t go too crazy over trends in sports betting unless I can see some sound logic behind them or the numbers are so good you simply can’t ignore them.

This is one where I think we can see some logic and the numbers are there. It’s a big enough sample size and Monday Night Football is historically the most watched game of the week and therefore the most public game of the week. The public still tends to like the faves and sportsbooks shade accordingly.

Arizona is a 7.5-point favorite as of Monday morning and most of the money is coming in on the Cardinals here. Not a surprise with the Jets’ injuries and their struggles this season.

Still, these Monday night numbers are something I’d recommend you look hard at before you follow the crowd and place your wagers in these prime-time showdowns.
