Giants Have Been Absolutely Owned by the Eagles

Embarrassed by the Lions on Monday Night Football, the Giants are facing the reality of an 0-3 start with a tough matchup on the docket against an Eagles team that’s had New York’s number for more than a decade. Sportsbooks opened the Week 3 NFC East contest with the Eagles favored by 3.5 points but that number moved significantly in favor of Philly following the G-Men’s no-show at the Meadowlands on Monday.

SHARK BITES
  • The Giants are 1-5 SU and on the runline in their last 6 games against the Eagles.
  • The total has gone OVER in the Eagles’ last 3 games against the Giants.
  • The Giants are 2-7 SU in their last 9 games against their division on the road.

It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong with the Giants because there’s a lot of holes. One of the biggest problems, though, has been the combination of a leaky offensive line and a quarterback who seems to have acquired happy feet.

With basically no running game to take some pressure off the passing game, Eli Manning is being forced to take some unwanted shots in the pocket and he’s been sacked eight times through two games. Even when Eli has time, his receivers aren’t getting open and until Odell Beckham Jr. is back to 100 percent health, that’s probably not going to change.

Beginning their season with one win and a loss, the Eagles look like the far superior team right now when comparing them to the Giants and they may even be the best squad in the NFC East. Nearly taking the Chiefs to overtime last week and handling the Redskins on the road in their opener, the Eagles are going to be fired up for their first game in Philly this season against a team they always play extremely tough.

Philly had one of the best pass defenses in the NFL a season ago and it doesn’t appear that that’s changed much. Eli is going to have a tough time getting anything going on Sunday if the boys in front of him continue to issue d-linemen free passes to the Giants backfield.

The Giants, 6-14 straight up and against the spread in their last 20 games against the Eagles, are very likely going to lose this game on Sunday. Could the G-Men be the worst team in New York?
