Will the Giants continue their new-found success vs rattled Redskins?

The New York Giants just made fools of us all. After starting the season 1-8 SU and head coach Ben McAdoo bookmarking the job-bank home page, New York finally looked like the Giants by holding the Kansas City Chiefs to nine points in Week 11 and breaking a three-game losing streak in the process. The G-Men now go on the road, Sportsbook as 7-point dogs, to face a Washington team that may have suffered the worst loss by any NFL team this season.

SHARK BITES
  • The total has gone UNDER in eight of the Giants’ last 11 games vs the Redskins.
  • The Redskins are 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games at home.
  • The Giants are 2-9 SU in their last 11 games.

If the Washington Redskins plan to reclaim their season, this will be the week where they start. At 4-6 SU and ATS, Washington only has one potential playoff team left to play (Chargers) in their six remaining games and could run the table into the playoffs (shout-out to Aaron Rodgers).  Are we getting ahead of ourselves? Perhaps, but in their six losses this year, all but one is to a current division leader – Dallas being the exception – and they should have had the victory against the Saints but coughed up a 16-point lead with just over three minutes to go.

The Giants, fresh off the good vibes of holding it down at home, have historically owned the Redskins and are 6-2 SU and ATS in the last eight games in this matchup and have won three straight at FedExField. So why can’t I fully endorse the Giants? Well, quite simply, it’s the eye test. Take away the recency bias of their win over the Chiefs and the Giants were still 1-8 and 3-6 ATS in their first nine games and ready to ship Ben McAdoo to another continent (to quote Superbad, people don’t forget). When you finally factor in the Giants are 2-4 ATS in their last six, don’t get cute. Take the Skins to eat the points while eating some turkey.

The total opened at 44 in this NFC East slobber-knocker and bettors should consider the OVER. The total has gone OVER in six of Washington’s last seven games and in three of their last four home games. The Redskins are averaging just under 24 points per game at home while the Giants are averaging 22.7 points per game in their last four road games.
