NFL and College Football Weather Factors

The 2010 NFL season kicks off this weekend with a full schedule of games - but before you fill out that football pool for the week it always helps to know what the weather conditions might be for the games in your weekly handle.

Weather condition information is most useful for the OVER/UNDER bets where greasy weather conditions can lower the score of the game. Some quarterbacks don’t perform well on a wet playing field, and if you do your homework an edge can periodically be found based on the weather conditions at game time. This week most of the country will have clear or cloudy conditions and for the most part the weather shouldn’t affect play in any major ways, with a few exceptions. The Colts will be in Texas where the forecast calls for a 70% chance of rain. Four games - Cowboys at Redskins, Chargers at Chiefs, Niners at Seahawks, and the Broncos at Jaguars - all call for a 40% chance of rain.

The two games where temperature could come into play are the Lions at Bears and the Broncos and Jaguars. Both are going to have temperatures exceeding 90 degrees and could make for a long day for any players that are still working on their conditioning.

The 2010 NCAA football season is underway and Week 2 is set to go off this weekend. Games that could be affected by wet conditions include LSU at Vanderbilt, Michigan at Notre Dame, Miami at Ohio State, Oregon at Tennessee, Toledo at Ohio, and Western Kentucky at Kentucky. If the rain does fall, the inexperienced college players could be heavily affected by the weather. Conditions can change regularly, so make sure that you check out the most recent weather forecast and not one from a couple of days ago. And don’t forget the games that are played in a dome, as you won’t find an edge in any of those games based on weather conditions. Get the most betting options and fastest payouts of any sportsbook.
