Belichick Favorite to Win Coach of Year

Bill Belichick has won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award three times in his career, and he enters the 2015 National Football League campaign as the co-favorite on the latest betting props at the online sportsbooks to get the accolade once again this season.

At 5Dimes Belichick is tied with the Indianapolis Colts' Chuck Pagano, the Chicago Bears' John Fox, and the Seattle Seahawks' Pete Carroll as the +800 favorite on the AP NFL Coach of the Year odds for 2015. Belichick won this award in each of 2003, 2007, and 2010.

And how New England performs in the first four games of the regular season could tell the tale on Belichick's NFL Coach of the Year award chances for this year; the team is expected to have to use backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in place of suspended starter Tom Brady in those contests.

Mike McCarthy of the Green Bay Packers, a Super Bowl favorite for the season, is then at +900 on the betting lines at 5Dimes, with Chip Kelly of the Philadelphia Eagles at +1000. Kelly's Eagles will feature a new look on offense for the upcoming season, with Sam Bradford at quarterback and DeMarco Murray at running back.

Two-time winner Bruce Arians sits behind the favorites at +1400 on the NFL Coach of the Year odds at the sportsbook. Arians won this award last season after leading the Arizona Cardinals to an 11-5 record, and he was also named the NFL Coach of the Year back in 2012 with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Carolina Panthers' Ron Rivera, the 2013 NFL Coach of the Year, is back at +4000 odds at 5Dimes, with 2009 winner Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals at +4000 as well. Sean Payton (+3800), Andy Reid (+4000), and Lovie Smith (+5000) have also won this award in the past.

And it's then Jay Gruden of the Washington Redskins who sits dead last at the sportsbook at +10000 on the NFL Coach of the Year odds heading into the season. Gruden's Redskins won just four games last season, and he's been pegged at some sportsbooks as the favorite to be the first coach fired.
