NFL Betting: Week 3 Lines & Totals

NFL Week 3 Sportsbook lines are highlighted by a giant point spread in the Jacksonville-Seattle game. The Seahawks opened as 16-point favorites, but the line had climbed to as high as 20 at some shops as of Tuesday afternoon.

The 20-point spread is the largest in the NFL since 2007, when the Patriots were favored by 24 over the Eagles. New England failed to cover in a 31-28 win.

NFL favorites of 19.5 points or more are 3-9 against the spread since 2001. Even with that trend, it’s going to be hard to find bettors willing to back the Jaguars, who have looked atrocious in losses to Kansas City and Oakland to start the season.

Meanwhile, Seattle has climbed to the top of the OddsShark power rating after its impressive win over the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks have covered the spread in 16 of their last 20 home games.

The Broncos are also giant favorites this week for their Monday night clash with the Raiders. Denver opened as 15.5-point favorites. The line had shrunk to -15 as of Tuesday. The Broncos are 7-12-1 against the spread in their last 20 games as double-digit favorites.

Denver has won and covered in the last three meetings with the Raiders.

San Francisco is the other double-digit favorite on the board. The 49ers opened as 10.5-point favorites over the visiting Indianapolis Colts. Both teams are coming off losses, with the Colts falling at home to the Miami Dolphins. San Francisco has been a great bet after a loss under coach Jim Harbaugh; the 49ers are 12-5 after a loss under Harbaugh.

While there are plenty of giant spreads this week, there are also a few tiny ones, none smaller than the Atlanta Falcons’ game at the Miami Dolphins. Miami opened as a 1-point favorite, but the line had shrunk to a pick ‘em at most shops as of Tuesday.

The Jets are 1.5-point favorites over the visiting Buffalo Bills, and the Washington Redskins are 1-point favorites over the visiting Detroit Lions.

The Thursday night game between the host Philadelphia Eagles and visiting Kansas City Chiefs features the largest total at 51. The Detroit Lions’ trip to Washington also features a high total of 49.5
