NFL Draft: Who Will Be The First Overall Pick?

The 2017 NFL draft is quickly approaching and if all the pundits, mock drafters and oddsmakers are to be believed, the first overall pick is an absolute lock. Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M has separated himself from the pack due to his production, freakish athleticism and play at one of the most important positions in football.

Garrett, who is listed at -400 to be the top pick per Bet365, combines his athleticism with a natural feel for the game. This has resulted in a sacking, pass-batting, fumble-forcing machine.

If the Cleveland Browns keep the No. 1 pick, they will more than likely select Garrett. However, there will always be a premium on quarterbacks and teams are willing to mortgage the future to try to land a quality signal-caller – see the LA Rams and Jared Goff.

The quarterback with the best odds to go first overall is North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky. The former Tar Heel has plenty of questions marks – specifically his limited playing time in college – but has a world of potential. He is a big, athletic, smart quarterback who has shown lethal accuracy in the short- to mid-range passing game.

Leading into the draft, there has been plenty of talk that the Browns have this decision down to Garrett or Trubisky. You can't be sure if these are just intentional leaks to try to drive up the price for a potential trade, as a team would need to give up more to land Trubisky away from the Browns. At the same time, I think Hue Jackson could see a bit of Andy Dalton in Trubisky as well.
