NFL Injuries: Eagles line depends on Vick

For the second straight week Michael Vick’s status is being carefully watched by NFL bettors after he left the Eagles' loss to the New York Giants last Sunday with a hand injury.

Vick participated in practice Wednesday and is expected to start in Sunday’s game against San Francisco, prompting 5Dimes to release a line making Philadelphia a 10-point favorite in that one.

Philadelphia wasn’t the only team to get good news on the injury front this week. Cleveland’s Peyton Hillis (strep throat), who missed last Sunday, St. Louis’ Steven Jackson (groin), who was injured in Week 1, and Houston’s Arian Foster (hamstring), who has barely played this season, are all expected to be in action this Sunday. New Orleans star wide receiver Marques Colston is also expected to return from a collarbone injury he sustained in Week 1.

Moving on to the bad news, San Diego could have big holes to fill on both sides of the ball as Quentin Jammer (hamstring) and Antonio Gates (foot) are both currently considered doubtful. Going up against 0-3 Miami, they are still a 7-point home favorite at BetOnline.

Indianapolis is staying mum on quarterback Kerry Collins' head injury, but he left last week’s game with concussion-like symptoms and could miss Monday night’s game against Tampa Bay. Indianapolis is a 10-point underdog at TopBet, and Curtis Painter would get the start if Collins couldn’t go.

Tennessee’s Kenny Britt suffered a torn ACL last week and will miss the rest of the season as a result. The Titans are a 1-point underdog on the road this week against Cleveland at Bovada.

Two other talented wide receivers may also miss action Sunday, with Baltimore’s Lee Evans (ankle) and Dallas’ Miles Austin (hamstring) both currently considered doubtful for their games this Sunday. Both teams get tough tests at home this week, with Baltimore (-4) hosting the New York Jets and Dallas (-1) hosting Detroit (listed lines available at Bovada).
