NFL Line Moves: Week 14

After a few weeks featuring only a few small NFL line movements, this week saw some heavy sways with big betting action coming in on certain sides to force big line movements. Three different games saw a line movement of at least two full points.

Here’s a look at the biggest NFL line movements of Week 14.

Kansas City @ NY Jets (from -7.0 to -10.5 at Sportsbook)

Despite the fact that Kansas City is coming off an outright upset win on the road over Chicago last week, bettors don’t seem too convinced that the Chiefs can give New York a fight this week as the line moved over three points towards the Jets. With an apparent injury to Kyle Orton, it appears that the ineffective Tyler Palko will be back under center for Kansas City, prompting the action on New York.

New England @ Washington (from +7.0 to +9.5 at Sportsbook)

New England is on a roll with four straight wins and four straight games with over 31 points on offense, and bettors don’t expect that roll to end in Washington this week. The Redskins did cover the spread as a 7-point home underdog against Dallas a few weeks ago, but are coming off an ugly 34-19 loss to the New York Jets.

Minnesota @ Detroit (from -12.0 to -10.0 at Sportsbook)

Earlier in the week, Adrian Peterson and Christian Ponder were both deemed questionable with injuries. But with Adrian Peterson practicing today and Ndamukong Suh still out, bettors are taking the points on Minnesota and have brought the Vikings down to +10.0. Minnesota is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games against Detroit.

Indianapolis @ Baltimore (from -15.0 to -16.0 at Sportsbook)

Indianapolis picked up some points in garbage time last Sunday to cover the spread at New England, but it didn’t seem to do much to convince bookmakers or bettors that they stand a fighting chance this week at Baltimore. Baltimore’s defense is much stronger than New England’s, and the Ravens are also 6-0 SU and 4-1-1 ATS at home this season.

No line has been released on Monday night’s St. Louis at Seattle matchup yet as it is still unclear who is starting at quarterback for the Rams.
