Super Bowl 58 Live Betting: In-Game Betting Cheat Sheet

In-game betting is a great way to keep Super Bowl 58 fun even if your pre-game wagers aren't going so well.

Perhaps we can help you out with some Super Bowl historical in-game betting trends to push your bankroll in the right direction. The below live betting trends are updated through last year's Super Bowl with 2024 regular-season data for this year's finalists, the Chiefs and 49ers. You can find more specific Super Bowl 58 betting trends on our dedicated page, as well:

First Team To Score

  • • The team that scored first has won 11 of the last 15 Super Bowls.
  • • The team that scored first in the Super Bowl has won 65% of the time (37-20).
  • • When the first score was a TD (27 times), the team won 66.7% of the time (18-9).
  • • When the first score was a FG (27 times), the team won 59.3% of the time (16-11).
  • • When the first score was a safety (three times), the team won 100% of the time (3-0).

End Of First Quarter

  • • In the last 12 Super Bowls, the leader after the first quarter has won eight times. However, in four of those Super Bowls, there was no leader at the end of the first quarter. It was a tie of 0-0 in three years (2014, 2016, 2018) and 7-7 at Super Bowl 57 in 2023.
  • • Teams leading by 10 or more points at the end of the first quarter are 3-1 SU (75%).
  • • Teams that are scoreless and losing at the end of the first quarter are 6-20 SU (23.1%).
  • • Teams leading by less than seven points at the end of the first quarter are 14-7 SU (66.6%).
  • • Teams leading by seven points or more at the end of the first quarter are 17-4 SU (81.0%).
  • • Teams leading by three points or less at the end of the first quarter are 8-5 SU (61.5%).
  • • Teams leading by more than three points at the end of the first quarter are 23-6 SU (79%).

There's a pretty obvious advantage to leading at the end of the first quarter in the Super Bowl, and that's also been true for our two finalists during the 2023-24 regular season:

TeamLeading at End of 1st QuarterNot Leading at End of 1st Quarter
49ers9-2 (81.8%)4-2 (66.7%)
Chiefs9-0 (100%)1-5 (16.7%)

Halftime

  • • The team leading at halftime has won 77.4% of the time (41-12 SU).
  • • Only two teams leading by more than seven points at halftime have EVER lost a Super Bowl (Falcons vs Patriots and Eagles vs Chiefs).
  • • No team has EVER come back to win the game when held scoreless in the first half.
  • • Teams leading by three points or less at the half have lost five of 10 times.
  • • Teams leading by four points or less at the half have lost seven out of 15 times.
