NFL Odds – AFC Championship

The Jets have posted back-to-back road upsets to get to the AFC Championship Game. Can they pick up a third this weekend as an underdog at Pittsburgh to reach their first Super Bowl since Joe Namath's time in 1968?

The playoff ride for the Jets (+3.5 at Sportsbook.ag) began in Indianapolis in the Wild Card round where they edged the Colts 17-16 as a 2-point underdog. They delivered an even bigger upset last week in the Divisional Round by knocking out New England 28-21 as a 9-point road underdog and throwing Super Bowl future odds for a loop.

Mark Sanchez improved his playoff record to 4-1 that day, and he outplayed Tom Brady while passing for 194 yards with three touchdowns. Shonn Greene carried the Jets' running game with 76 yards and a TD on 17 carries, and the team's defense took care of the rest.

The Jets' strong D recorded five sacks and forced Brady's first interception since Week 6. [ Jets Steelers matchup stats and odds ]

The Steelers are in the conference championship for the fourth time in the last seven years after a 31-24 comeback win over Baltimore last week as a 3-point favorite on the NFL odds. Pittsburgh went into halftime down 21-7 to the Ravens, but dominated the second half on both sides of the ball.

Ben Roethlisberger passed for 226 yards with two touchdowns, and Rashard Mendenhall ran into the end zone twice in the win. The Steelers' defense racked up five sacks and forced three turnovers, and they limited the Ravens to 28 total yards in the second half.

The Steelers and Jets met in Pittsburgh during the regular season in Week 15. Pittsburgh was a 4-point favorite, but was upset by New York 22-17. The Jets jumped out to an early lead on a touchdown on the opening kickoff by Brad Smith, and after falling behind 17-10 in the third quarter went on to score 12 unanswered points.

The New York defense posted three sacks and an important safety late that forced Pittsburgh to go for a touchdown instead of what could have been a game-tying field goal on their final drive. The Steelers' defense held the Jets to 276 yards in the loss, and one important thing to note is that Pittsburgh played without defensive MVP Troy Polamalu.

Before the Jets' Week 15 win the Steelers were undefeated at home against the Jets in five meetings. In their last 10 against New York overall the Steelers are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS. For totals bettors in the last 13 meetings between the Jets and Steelers the UNDER is 10-3.

However, the Jets were 8-0 OVER on the road this season, while the Steelers have played 13 straight OVER games at home in the month of January.
