NFL Odds: Home Teams Roll Again
Home teams continued their impressive run in Week 5, going 9-5 against the spread. On the season, home teams are now 44-30-3 against the spread, a 59.46 covering percentage.
Underdogs covered in eight of the fourteen games with seven underdogs winning outright. Home dogs remain a strong proposition after going 5-2 against the number last week; home dogs are 17-11 against the number on the season. There are three home underdogs on the NFL betting lines this week: Bengals at Bills (+3), Lions at Browns (+2.5), and Packers at Ravens (+2).
On the season, favorites cling to a small lead, going 38-36-3 against the spread.
Eight of the fourteen games went OVER the total in Week 5. There have been 40 OVERs and 38 UNDERs on the season.
Worst Teams Against the Spread
Which one of these teams will cover the spread in their first game this season?
The Houston Texans, New York Giants, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are all 0-5 against the spread, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-4 ATS.
The Giants will get the first crack as they travel to Chicago as 7.5-point underdogs to the Bears in the Thursday night game. The Texans, with struggling quarterback Matt Schaub, are big 8.5-point home favorites over the St. Louis Rams. The Steelers are small underdogs at the surprising New York Jets.
And the Jaguars, of course, are monster 28-point underdogs at the Denver Broncos.
