NFL Opening Betting Lines: Week 2 Odds

After winning but not covering the posted spread at the sportsbooks in Week 1 of the season Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos have been handed an even bigger spread to cover as the take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

The Broncos topped the Indianapolis Colts 31-24 on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, but didn't manage to cover the 9-point spread on the NFL odds at the sportsbooks. Denver remains at home for their Week 2 matchup, where they opened as big 14-point favorites at 5Dimes against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Those 14 points are the biggest spread on the opening NFL lines for Week 2 at the sportsbooks, although the Green Bay Packers sat as 9.5-point home favorites against the New York Jets on the opening odds, and the San Francisco 49ers were listed as 7.5-point home favorites against the Chicago Bears.

And the New Orleans Saints were listed at 5Dimes as 7-point favorites on the opening Week 2 lines - and they're on the road for this week. The Saints, who couldn't pay off last week in a 37-34 OT loss to the Falcons, will be in Cleveland this Sunday to take on a Browns team that managed to cover in Week 1 in a 30-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The other road favorites on the opening Week 2 odds are the Seattle Seahawks at +5 over the San Diego Chargers, the Houston Texans at +2.5 over the Oakland Raiders, and the New England Patriots at +2.5 over the Minnesota Vikings. The Patriots lost 33-20 to Miami in Week 1, while the Vikings romped to a 34-6 victory over St. Louis.

In the other primetime games for the week the Ravens opened as 2.5-point home favorites over the division-rival Steelers for Thursday night at 5Dimes, and the Colts opened as 2.5-point home favorites over the Eagles for Monday night.
