NFL Rookie of Year Prop Betting Lines

Johnny Manziel won't come out of training camp as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but he still sits near the top of the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at the online sportsbooks.

At Bovada Manziel was the 11/2 favorite on the Offensive ROY betting lines recently, despite the fact that the Browns have named Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback to start the 2014 season. Manziel was a first-round pick of Cleveland in the 2014 NFL Draft.

But New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks is now the favorite at 5/1, with Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins close behind at 6/1 on the Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at Bovada. Manziel is at 15/2, with Tennessee Titans running back Bishop Sankey at 9/1. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews sits at 10/1 on those odds.

As for the other notable QBs on the Offensive ROY betting lines at Bovada, the Minnesota Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater and the Jacksonville Jaguars' Blake Bortles are both also at 10/1.

Meanwhile, linebacker Jadeveon Clowney of the Houston Texans is the big 9/4 favorite on the odds to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award at Bovada, with linebacker Khalil Mack of the Oakland Raiders his closest competitor on the Defensive ROY betting lines at 13/2.

Sammy Watkins was the first wide receiver taken in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he’s only the second betting choice when it comes to Offensive NFL Rookie of the Year prop betting at the sportsbooks as of May 13.

Watkins, taken fourth overall by the Buffalo Bills, is a 4-1 bet, according to Bovada. That is second on the list behind Mike Evans, the Texas A&M WR taken seventh overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who is listed as a 3-1 bet currently.

The man who threw so many TD passes to Evans is No. 3 on the list. Johnny Manziel, taken by the Cleveland Browns late in the first round, is at 15-2.

A pair of receivers taken in the second round complete the Top 5 picks for Rookie of the Year betting. Marqise Lee and Kelvin Benjamin were each listed at 12-1, the same line as QB Teddy Bridgewater who was drafted by Minnesota.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bovada opened No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney as the 2-1 favorite to win the Defensive ROY award. The sportsbook also set an over-under of 9 on Clowney sacks in 2014.
