NFL Week 10 Betting Trends

The Seahawks and Cardinals are both riding short losing streaks, but one of them is bound to put up a win this weekend when the NFC West foes clash in Arizona.

Despite the Seahawks' .500 record and the Cardinals' lame 3-5 mark both teams are still contenders in the horrible NFC West. Their matchup was kept off the board early in the week due to the unknown status of Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck, but whatever the odds turn out to be for this one the trends are telling us to take Arizona and the OVER.

The trends basically tell us two things. First, the Cardinals have dominated the Seahawks for a few seasons now. Second, Seattle is one of the worst road teams in the entire NFL.

Let's go over that first point first. In their last eight matchups the Cardinals are a solid 6-2 SU and ATS against the Seahawks. At home in Arizona the Cards have won four straight against Seattle, and they covered the spread in all four wins. The recent history is pretty clearly on the Cardinals' side.

That second point can be summed up even quicker: The Seahawks are 1-3 both SU and ATS on the road this season, and in their last 13 games away from home Seattle is a miserable 2-11 SU and ATS. The Seattle hometown crowd is called the Seahawks' 12th Man, and the team doesn't do well without that thunderous noise behind them.

Totals bettors may have a lock in the OVER in this game on Sunday. The last six times the Seahawks and Cardinals have met in Arizona the combined scores have all gone OVER the total. The Cardinals have been a solid OVER play all season with an OVER/UNDER record of 6-2, which includes a 4-0 OVER/UNDER mark at home.

Totals bettors might also be thinking about betting the OVER this weekend when Philadelphia visits Washington. After all, the Eagles have posted four straight OVER results, while Washington is 2-1 to the OVER in their last three games.

The trends tell a different story, though, and if you bet the OVER on Sunday you're likely looking at a losing bet. When Philadelphia and Washington clash it usually isn't a big score-fest; in the last nine meetings between the NFC East rivals the UNDER is 6-3. Go back even further and you'll find that the UNDER is 10-4 in their last 14 contests.

In Washington, where the Eagles and Redskins will play on Sunday, the trend is even more prevalent. The UNDER is 7-2 in the last nine meetings at Washington, and a solid 15-5 in the last 20. Don't be fooled into betting the OVER when all the winners will be betting the UNDER on Sunday for that matchup.
