NFL Week 12 Odds: Line Movement

The Washington Redskins are reeling. Star quarterback Robert Griffin III has gone from beloved to berated. The media is attacking and ignoring the team’s nickname. And now the betting market has put Washington on the top of the fade list.

Washington opened as a 3.5-point home underdog against the San Francisco 49ers for the Monday night game. That line has grown to as high as 6 at some shops, the largest line movement of the week.

The 49ers have covered the spread in their last seven appearances on Monday Night Football. The Redskins are 1-6 ATS in their past seven games as underdogs.

Some more of this week’s line moves:

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns: The Browns opened as high as 2.5-point favorites, but the number had dropped all the way down to a pick'em at 5Dimes and minus-1 at multiple other shops as of Friday.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers: Even without Aaron Rodgers, bettors were backing the Packers early in the week. Rodgers has an injured collarbone and is out. Scott Tolzien passed for 339 yards but also threw three picks in last week’s loss to the New York Giants. Tolzien is expected to start again this week against the Vikings. The Packers opened as 3-point favorites, but that line was all the way up to minus-5 at some shops. Green Bay has covered the spread in 12 of its last 14 NFC North games and is 6-1 ATS at home against the Vikings.

Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins: Bettors are all-aboard the Carolina bandwagon. The Panthers, winners of six in a row, opened as 3.5-point favorites for their trip to Miami this week, but that number had grown to minus-4.5 as of Friday.

New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens: The up-and-down Jets are growing underdogs heading into their game at the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Jets opened as 3-point underdogs, but were getting as many as four points as of Friday. The Ravens are 8-1 against the spread versus the Jets since 1994.
