NFL Week 15: Potential Upsets
Last week, in Week 14, the favorites got the best of the underdogs, going 10-6. Two of the six underdogs that covered won outright. Favorites are now 105-96-6 on the year, while the season tally for outright pups improved to 62.
This late in the year it always becomes tougher to pinpoint an outright underdog winner, as it becomes clearer which teams need wins, and which ones are just coasting into the offseason. Nevertheless, there is always value to be found and two AFC South teams look like potential underdog plays.
First, the Tennessee Titans are a 3-point home underdog to the Arizona Cardinals, according to Bovada, and this might be a potential outright winner. Though the Titans are seemingly out of the playoff picture with their 5-8 record, it doesn't mean they've stopped playing for pride and a shot at finishing .500 for the season. Tennessee is in after getting pummeled by the Broncos in Denver, so there's always the avenge factor, as the Titans would like to rinse the bad taste from their month from last week’s loss. Arizona is fighting for a playoff spot, this is true, but it also has to travel cross country and that's not necessarily an easy chore this time of year.
Next up is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who currently are tied with three others for the longest winning streak in the AFC. Yet Buffalo comes into town laying -2 points to the Jags. The AFC East's last-place Bills have lost two in a row, they've lost four of five and they're 1-5 on the road this season. Now they're being asked to win and cover against a team that had been drubbed all season and has risen from the ashes and realistically has a chance to finish in second place in the division before the year is up. In winning four of its last five, three of Jacksonville's four victories have been on the road. Back-to-back home wins by the Jags shouldn't be too much to ask.
