NFL Week 2 Betting Primer

Did that greasy bookie get you in Week 1? He certainly got anyone who bet on the Patriots or any overzealous bettors who went all-in on OVER bets. Yes, the public certainly took a pounding with the Patriots’ getting destroyed at home and the OVER only hitting in five of the 15 games, but there’s no time like the present to get even or, better yet, destroy the bookie’s life by sending him to the poorhouse.

Before you log in to your favorite sportsbook and start throwing money around, there’s one piece of betting advice I’d like to pass along — limit your risk. Working in this industry, friends often hit me up for general betting tips, and that’s my No. 1 piece of advice for casual bettors.

People’s eyes light up when they see the profits they can make off of crazy parlay bets. The profit is big because they rarely hit. The NFL is extremely unpredictable. Last year, for example, in each of the first seven weeks of the season, there were six or more straight-up underdog winners.

So, don’t be greedy ... or actually, be as greedy as you want. It’s really none of my business how you spend your money. Either way, check out all the numbers I dug up below and good luck with your bets this weekend.
