NFL Week 2: Odds and Changes
If there was a theme to Week 1, it was “upset”, and all those underdog winners will have an effect on the NFL betting lines for the upcoming weekend. After half the Week 1 odds featured road favorites, that situation appears just three times among the early posted Week 2 NFL odds (Philadelphia, Houston and New Orleans). When the home teams go 12-4 SU like in Week 1, that will change the bookmaker's thinking. A couple of games this weekend that are worth looking at are the Giants at Colts and the Eagles at the Lions. The Colts suffered a humiliating loss last weekend and should come out with guns blazing this week. Currently the Colts have a 5.5-point spread at Bovada to cover over the very tough-looking New York Giants defense.

The Giants looked impressive against the Panthers this week and it’s a given that the younger Manning will be trying his best to beat his big brother in his house this week. With two very motivated Manning brothers, the 48-point total looks like a tempting OVER bet at this point. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the spread shrink on the Colts and the total to rise as the weekend nears. Another game that could see some movement in the lines is the Eagles vs. Detroit game. Michael Vick looked like the Pro Bowler we remembered from his early years after replacing the concussed Kevin Kolb, and if he gets the start (and it’s looking like he will), a 4-point spread at Bovada looks very small if he has any room to operate against the Lions' defense. The Lions will be coming off a crushing call (despite it being correct according to the rules) and will have a rough go of it without quarterback Matthew Stafford (out indefinitely with a shoulder injury). The 41.5-point total at Bovada looks like an UNDER opportunity, especially if Vick and the Eagles' offense control the possession of the ball for most of the game.
