NFL Week 3: Prop Bets

Week 3 brings us another week of NFL action and another round of sweet, sweet props of which I’ve listed my favorites below. Here’s to another Sunday of couch sitting and sweating out the peaks and valleys that come with betting on football.

The Browns’ Quarterback Roulette

The Browns seem to go through quarterbacks like I go through beer on Sundays. Cody Kessler, the 93rd overall pick in the 2016 draft, is the next man up for Cleveland after the shoulder injury to Josh McCown and Bovada has a few props related directly to the new starting QB of the sad-sack Browns.

Kessler has been described by head coach Hue Jackson as a first-in, last-out kind of guy but as a third-stringer for a team that has started a different QB in each of its last five games, the track record does not inspire confidence.

The offensive line of the Browns has given up three sacks per game this season so it’s likely the rookie is going to face a ton of pressure in his first NFL game. The -250 line for Kessler to throw a pick seems like good value here as 94 out of the last 133 rookie quarterbacks have thrown an interception in their first game and Browns QBs have thrown at least one pick in seven straight games.

Cody Kessler Total Interceptions Week 3
  • Over 0.5 -250
  • Under 0.5 +170
Cody Kessler Total Passing Yards Week 3
  • Over 215.5 -120
  • Under 215.5 -120
Cody Kessler Total Touchdown Passes Week 3
  • Over 1.5 +150
  • Under 1.5 -200

Does zeke have the fumbles?

Ezekiel Elliott seems to have a problem holding on to the football as he’s put it on the turf twice in just 41 carries so far in his young career. The opposing team only recovered one of those but that fumble rate is alarming. Jerry Jones has said that Zeke’s carries won’t be affected by the fumbles so he will have plenty of opportunities to literally drop the ball this week. Keep in mind, though, he will be running against a Bears defense that has forced just one fumble so far and recovered zero.

Ezekiel Elliott Total Fumbles lost Week 3
  • Over 0.5 +150
  • Under 0.5 -200

Seahawks’ Offensive Ineptitude

The Seahawks have had one of the worst offenses in the NFL through the first two weeks and you can bet on whether or not they will score a touchdown in the first half. Seattle has scored just 21 total points this season, including just one touchdown, scored late in the fourth quarter of their 12-10 win over the Dolphins. Their opponents this week, however, gave up 46 points last week, including two first-half TDs. It seems unlikely the Seahawks go three straight weeks without a first-half major score but there is definitely some value if you think they do.

Will the Seahawks score a First-Half Touchdown in Week 3?
  • Yes -300
  • No +200
