NFL Week 6 Betting Props: Can the Falcons Keep Soaring?

We are somehow already in Week 6 of the NFL schedule and some really cool, unexpected storylines have developed a third of the way through the 2016 season. The Falcons are 5-0, Dak Prescott has not yet thrown a pick while leading his Cowboys to four wins and the Houston Texans have not scored a rushing touchdown all year.

With these things in mind, here are some prop bets from Bovada for you to wet your beak with this week.

Can the Stingy SeaBirds take down the Soaring Falcons?

The Falcons were slowed down by the Broncos a little in Week 5 but the offense in Hot-lanta is still cooking with gas. Their 2287 total offensive yards and 35 points per game both lead the league. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will likely have a difficult time moving the ball through the air against Seattle’s league-best pass defense but that shouldn’t make much of a difference. Kyle Shanahan has found a way to put up points this year and it hasn’t seemed to matter what the defense has done.

The OVER/UNDER totals for the Falcons this week are 19.5 points and 325.5 total offensive yards. Seattle has given up just 264 yards per game so far but they have not yet faced a juggernaut like Atlanta – both the OVERs here are screaming for action.

Dak’s Luck could run out against the Packers

Tony Romo has to be feeling like his job security is in trouble with the way his replacement has been playing. If I was Jason Garrett, there is no way I would bench Prescott to give up important snaps to a quarterback who has been the biggest band-aid in the league the past few years.

Dak has thrown 155 passes without being intercepted so far – a rookie record – and has looked more than capable under center. He and his Cowboys go up against the Packers on Sunday and Bovada is offering EVEN odds for Prescott to throw his first pick of the season.

There are two things that really go against the rookie quarterback in this one: 1. Romo is expected to be healthy for the Cowboys’ Week 8 game against the Eagles and this is Dak’s last chance to prove he is the No. 1 QB on America’s team. 2. He’s facing the league’s best run defense this week. Both of these rationales make me think Dak will be forcing the ball downfield a lot more than he has so far this season – something that rarely works out for rookie quarterbacks.

Miller? I hardly know her

The Houston Texans have been godawful this season and will be facing a Colts team on Sunday Night Football that has been just as bad. The prop here is whether Lamar Miller will score a touchdown against the Colts – something he has not done against any opponent this year.

Indy’s run D hasn’t been as bad as you’d think but only because their pass D has been so bad that teams don’t run much on the Colts. The Texans’ rushing attack could be in for a massive day against a team that has allowed 4.6 yards per rush and five rushing TDs. Houston will more than likely get their first score on the ground Sunday night and Lamar Miller – who has 19 career TDs – should be the beneficiary of that.
