NFL Week 9 Odds: Line Movement
Betting alert – the Oakland Raiders are favored. The Raiders opened as small home underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles, but the line has gone all the way across the fence and Oakland was up to a 3-point favorite at some shops heading into the weekend.
The Raiders have not been comfortable in the favorite role. In fact, Oakland is 9-20-1 against the spread in its last 30 games as the favorite, a trend that dates back to 2004.
However, it’s pretty easy to make a case that the Raiders are indeed the better team in Sunday’s game against the struggling Eagles. The Raiders are coming off an impressive win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Eagles have quarterback issues and had scored a total of 10 points in back-to-back losses to the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Nick Foles, who has been battling a concussion, is expected to start in place of Michael Vick, who has a strained hamstring. If Foles can’t go, Matt Barkley is next in line.
Additional notable line movements . . .
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
There is plenty of confusion about what the point spread should be on the Indianapolis Colts-Houston Texas game. Texans QB Case Keenum is expected to get his second straight start in place of injured and ineffective Matt Schaub, who is listed as doubtful. Houston RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is questionable. 5Dimes was offering the Colts as a 1-point favorite, while TopBet was offering Indianapolis -3 (-120) as of Friday night.
New Orleans Saints at NY Jets
The Saints have gone from 5-point to 7-point favorites at some sportsbooks. The Jets are coming off an ugly performance in a 49-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
San Diego Chargers at Washington Redskins
The Redskins opened as small home favorites at some shops, but the Chargers, who are coming off a bye, were laying points as of Friday.
