Nover: My Super Bowl 50 Top Prop Plays

brock osweiler

Super Bowl 50 approaches. No opinion on the spread or total? No problem. There are hundreds of proposition bets to choose from. Here are my recommendations taken from Bovada:

Carolina minus 3.5 points for the first two quarters. The Panthers have raced off a combined 55-7 halftime lead during their two playoff games. No team was better during the first two quarters than the Panthers during the regular season. Carolina ranked No. 1 in first-half points scored and was No. 2 in fewest points given up during the first half.

Plus $2.00 on either backup quarterback taking a snap. Besides the obvious injury factor, Denver could insert Brock Osweiler as a change of pace, or if Peyton Manning is proving ineffective. Another factor is the possibility of the Broncos pulling Manning late for a curtain call.

Panthers wide receiver Corey Brown Over 9.5 yards on his first reception. Brown is a big-play receiver. He averaged 14.4 yards per catch on the season. He averaged 11 yards per reception and 28.3 yards during the two playoff games. When Cam Newton targets Brown, it's likely to be a medium-to-deep throw with the purpose of hitting a home run, or at least loosening up Denver's secondary coverage.

Pick Norman to Not Have an Interception

Carolina's Josh Norman minus 2.85 not to have an interception. Norman may be the best cornerback in football so the savvy Manning is going to avoid him. The Broncos figure to have a simple, conservative game plan running the ball a lot. When Manning throws, it's going to be short and safe. He doesn't have the arm strength to do more. Manning has not thrown an interception during his last three appearances.

Denver's Ronnie Hillman Under 10.5 rushing attempts and under 35.5 rushing yards. These two props go together figuring Hillman isn't going to have a big rushing game without a lot of carries. C.J. Anderson has been Denver's hot running back. He's going to get the majority of the carries. If the favored Panthers bolt to a big lead, the Broncos will be forced to cut way back on their running attempts.
