Over Unders Dominate Week 5 Trends
If you bet UNDER the total the last eight times the Saints visited the Panthers, you'd have cashed eight winning tickets.
With that perfect 8-0 situation looming on the Week 5 NFL odds menu, is it too tempting to pass up, especially given that 11 of 13 meetings overall between New Orleans and Carolina have gone UNDER the number?
Or is it fool's gold with Cam Newton and Drew Brees ready to blow the lid off the opening total of 52.5?
Week 5 NFL wagering trends focus more on the over under than the point spread. But there are still many eye-catching patterns to sway your handicapping regime this week.

Like in the Meadowlands, where the Giants are lucky to be 3-1 and hosting the Seattle Seahawks as 10-point favorites. But when you take note that Seattle hasn't won here since 1983 (0-5 SU) and is 3-17 SU and ATS in its past 20 road games, you don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling of betting on them.
But when it comes to the over under, there is a feast of trends. In New England, the Pats have won nine straight October games (7-1-1 ATS) but the OVER looms as the best bet (OVER is 9-1 in past 10 when Jets are underdogs and OVER is 17-3 in 20 games with the Pats as chalk).
Houston hosts Oakland where the Texans are 16-3 favoring the OVER in October games lately. Buffalo hosts a Philly team riding a 9-1-1 trend favoring the OVER in its past 11 road games.
San Diego heads to its bye week next Sunday and the Chargers have been OVER machines in this spot (11-1 past 12 years before bye week). As well, the UNDER is 12-3 in the past 15 meetings since 1984 when the Bucs face the 49ers.
