Rob Gronkowski Props: Will He Stay Healthy in 2017?

Even the biggest New England Patriots haters will tell you Rob Gronkowski is the king of the tight end position. The man affectionately known as “Gronk” has been an absolute beast since getting drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft, but he’s had one major issue lately: staying healthy.

Gronkowski’s 2016-17 season came to an end after he took a vicious hit from Seattle’s Earl Thomas in Week 10, and the team placed him on injured reserve to fix a ruptured disc in his back. Simply put, it’s been a rough four years for Gronk. Since 2012, the 27-year-old has broken his forearm (requiring four separate surgeries), torn his ACL and had another surgery on his back.

Football is a brutal game, so a player suffering serious injuries is an unfortunate reality due to the violent nature of the sport. Online sportsbook BetOnline is offering odds on how many games Gronkowski will play in the 2017 campaign, with the OVER 10.5 coming in at -150 and the UNDER getting a price of +120.

Gronkowski managed to participate in only eight games last season – his lowest output since 2013 when he started in just six affairs. The Arizona product totaled 25 catches, 540 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his injury-plagued 2016.

Gronk is hitting his prime and is unquestionably the best in the league at the tight end spot, but if the setbacks continue to mount, it could create an issue for the Pats. Have no fear about his desire, though. Gronkowski is tied with Stanley Morgan for the most touchdowns in Patriots history with 68, and he’s made his feelings known on what it would mean for him to collect 69.

Never change, Gronk.
