Seahawks Tend to Get it Done When Underestimated by Vegas

Both the Seahawks and Titans will look to go above the .500 mark for the first time this season when they do inter-conference battle in Nashville this Sunday in one of the late-afternoon contests. These clubs haven’t met in the last four years but since 1988, the Seahawks are 8-2 straight up against the Titans. Can a hyped-up Tennessee team defend home turf against Pete Carroll and the ’Hawks as chalk?

SHARK BITES
  • The Seahawks are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games as underdogs.
  • The Titans are 2-8 SU and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against NFC teams.
  • The Seahawks are 8-22 SU and 8-19-3 ATS in their last 30 road games against AFC teams.

If you’d told me at the beginning of the year I could get the Seahawks at an underdog number against the Titans, I would’ve questioned your sanity. Seattle is still a far better team in terms of talent and coaching. The first two games of the season don’t change that.

Mustering just 16 points against the Raiders in Week 1, the Titans are in for a reality check when they go up against the brick wall that is the Seattle defense. Through two games, the ’Hawks have given up just 26 points and while the offense needs some tending to, it’s tough to see Tennessee putting away many majors this Sunday.

I don’t put a whole lot of stake in the Titans’ big victory over the Jags and neither should you.

If Russell Wilson (56.1 percent completion percentage) can just be a little bit more accurate with his passes – and avoid the Tennessee pressure – he should be able to score enough to put Marcus Mariota and the upstart Titans back in their place.

Tennessee could also be without two key offensive weapons if Corey Davis and DeMarco Murray are ruled out with hamstring injuries. If they’re unable to suit up, the Titans are in serious trouble and plus points on the Seahawks is a gift from the footballing gods.

People have underestimated this Seahawks team many times in the last few years and when they’ve been pegged as dogs, they’ve come through more often than they haven’t.
