Favored Chiefs Look for 22nd Win in 25 Games in Clash With Titans

In classic Chiefs fashion, Kansas City has quietly marched to an impressive 10-3 record. If you go back to last year, KC is actually 21-3 in its last 24 regular season games. That’s about as impressive as you can ask for but there is just something about this Andy Reid-coached and Alex Smith-quarterbacked team that makes them tough to bet on. They opened as 6-point home favorites for their duel with the Titans this week, marking the fifth time this season they’ve been the favorite of six points or more.

SHARK BITES
  • The Chiefs are 10-1 SU in their last 11 games at home.
  • The Titans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on the road against the Chiefs.
  • The Chiefs are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 5.0 or more.

With Tennessee winning three of its last four games – including the last one against the Broncos – this matchup is sneakily one of the best on the entire Week 15 slate. Marcus Mariota was held in check by the Broncos secondary last week but his defense stepped up and played some sweet chin music against Trevor Siemian in Nashville – sacking the second-year quarterback three times.

The Chiefs were able to hold Derek Carr and the Raiders – who happen to be the second-highest scoring team in the league – to just 13 points in Week 14. Tennessee’s offense has been extremely efficient considering the young age of the man at the helm, but KC has produced more takeaways than any other team in the league this year.

This is a massive game for both teams’ division aspirations and if both defenses play like they’re capable of, six points could be far too many for KC to cover. The strength of the Chiefs offense is the underneath pass and the running game – the exact same strength of the Titans defense. If KC is to blow this one wide open, Alex Smith will have to challenge the Titans corners deep down the field – something he doesn’t do all that often.
