After a fairly poor run of Thursday Night Football games, the NFL is set to open its Week 11 slate with an excellent matchup between two teams both looking for a fifth straight win, but according to oddsmakers it’s the Steelers who hold a massive advantage.
Pittsburgh opened the week as a 7-point favorite and with action coming in evenly on both sides, the line hasn’t moved much in either direction. That’s much to the chagrin of those looking to fade the public as TNF teams that have received more support from the betting public this season have gone a shocking 2-7-1 against the spread.
While the Steelers are coming off a bit of a disappointing performance against the Colts, the trends heavily favor them in a literal icebreaker where the temperature is projected to go below freezing.
Sportsbooks are still really high on this team that’s 8-0 straight up in its last eight night games and all things considered, they’re much better all around than Tennessee – it just hasn’t come together yet for the Killer B’s.
This is a game that needs a heavy dose of Le’Veon Bell and if he’s effective, like he’s been in spots this season, the Steelers should easily win and cover on Thursday. When Bell is reeling off big runs, he sets up the play-action for Big Ben and Antonio Brown. With a shiny new weapon in JuJu Smith-Schuster now also occupying space in the secondary, Roethlisberger shouldn’t have a problem finding an open man on Thursday against a below-average pass defense.
