Vikings vs Jets MNF Odds

It's a night of returns on Monday Night Football, as Brett Favre makes his return to New Jersey to face his former team, and Randy Moss makes his return to purple.

Minnesota tries to end a five-game road losing streak and the betting public has been pushing money on the Vikings since early in the week. [ {URL=http://www.oddsshark.com/Stats/Matchup/Football/NFL/9226}Matchup stats here {/URL}]

The Vikings are coming off their bye week and look a little different than the team that posted their first win of the season in Week 3. Moss is back in Minnesota after a blockbuster trade from New England that the Vikings hope will bring some life back to their passing game.

In Week 3 the Vikings defeated Detroit 24-10 as a 13-point favorite. Despite the win Favre looked shaky again, completing 23-of-39 passes for 201 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Adrian Peterson paced the Vikings' offense with 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 23 carries.

Peterson has easily been the Vikings' best player so far this season, but he could see his opportunities decrease if Moss can bring the Vikings' passing game to life.

The Jets won their third game in a row both SU and ATS last week after crushing Buffalo 38-14 as a 6-point favorite. Mark Sanchez passed for 161 yards with a pair of touchdowns, but it was the Jets' rushing attack that truly impressed. LaDainian Tomlinson looked like the old LT2 after rushing for 133 yards and two scores on 19 carries, and Shonn Greene broke out with 117 yards on 22 carries.

The Jets' already impressive passing game could get even better tonight with the return of Santonio Holmes from a four-game suspension.

The Moss trade isn't the only news coming out of Minnesota this week. Another story made headlines when allegations against Favre came out that said he sent inappropriate voice mails and photos to a female Jets employee while he was with New York. This could be real bad news for the Vikings if it's true, because Favre could be headed for a suspension like Ben Roethlisberger.

Will that dwell on Favre and the Vikings' minds on Monday night as he tries to keep the Vikings afloat?

The Jets are a 4.5-point favorite Monday night and New York has a solid history against the Vikings. New York has won their last five against the Vikings, and they covered the spread in three of those victories.

Favre, Moss, and the Vikings' offense may be getting all the attention this week, but look for the Jets' defense to be the difference-maker Monday night. New York has been stellar against the run this season and should be able to take Peterson out of the game.

That will force Favre to make plays and the aging veteran won't be able to do it with the Jets' pass rushers in his face and the secondary, which includes the return of Darrelle Revis, keeping Minnesota from going down field.
