MNF Betting Preview: Wentzylvania Has Arrived for Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t perceived as a true contender by many prior to the start of the season, but through six weeks they’re certainly looking the part thanks to a 5-1 SU record. Philly welcomes an old foe to town in Week 7 when the Washington Redskins invade the City of Brotherly Love for a good old-fashioned NFC East battle under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.

MyBookie opened the Eagles as 4.5-point home favorites with a total of 48.5.

Shark Bites
  • The Redskins are 7-22 SU in their last 29 games at night.
  • The total has gone OVER in five of the Eagles’ last seven games with a closing total of 48.5 or more.
  • The Redskins are 12-3-1 SU and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games as an underdog of 4.5 or less.

The Redskins are no slouch either and, with Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott staring down the barrel of a six-game suspension, could be going toe to toe with Philly when all is said and done. Washington was up 17-0 at one point against the winless San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 before collapsing and narrowly escaping with a 26-24 triumph. The ’Skins failed to cash as huge 11-point favorites as a result.

Covering the spread against Philadelphia has been relatively easy for Washington of late, as the Redskins are a fantastic 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Eagles.

In the wake of the devastating injury to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Eagles could very easily be the best team in the NFC right now. Carson Wentz has established himself as the MVP favorite – a sentence that was laughable at the start of the year – and the Eagles have covered the spread on four occasions through six contests.

Getting the job done against good teams hasn’t been an issue for Philadelphia either, evidenced by the Eagles going 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five vs teams with winning records.
