Who Will Be Browns’ Starting Quarterback in 2017?

Twenty-six. That is the number of quarterbacks the Cleveland Browns have started since they came back into existence in 1999.  The last time a Browns quarterback started every single game in a season was Tim Couch in 2001. Needless to say, the factory of sadness has been a dark hole for quarterbacks.

Who starts at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in 2017 is likely anyone’s guess, but you can bet on it if you feel strongly. Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler and Josh McCown are all at +500 to take the first snap for Cleveland next season.

RGIII was signed as a reclamation project that never really came together due to injuries. Kessler was the most efficient, as he threw for six touchdowns and two interceptions. Josh McCown averaged the most passing yards per game but threw as many INTs as TDs. Long and short: if these guys are your starting quarterback, you have little hope.

The favorite is actually ‘Any Other Quarterback’ at -200. Ultimately, this likely means the Browns using their high draft pick to select a quarterback. If any QB makes sense for the Browns in the upcoming draft, it is likely Mitch Trubisky. The UNC quarterback has plenty of questions considering he is just a one-year starter for the Tar Heels, but Trubisky has been incredibly efficient and has shown great decision-making ability. These attributes could mean a lot to coach Hue Jackson, who spent time working with Andy Dalton in Cincinnati.

Both Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel are listed as well. If it were any other team, I would say this is absurd, but these are the Browns.
