Why Steelers Will Win Super Bowl

If there is one team that wins ugly, wins when it counts and knows how to win on the road, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If there is one team that intimidates with defense and wins with defense, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And if there is one team with a knack of covering the spread in the playoffs and winning as an underdog, you guessed it, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So while making these statement is even enough, how about some stats and trends to support the theory that the Pittsburgh Steelers will win Super Bowl XLV.

Defense wins championships

Pittsburgh ranked first in overall defense with 14.5 PPG allowed and was also first in yards-per-play defense, a key indicator of overall prowess. They ranked fifth in first downs allowed at 17 per game, but rated first in rushing attempts (20.8), first in rushing yards per game (62.8), 12th in passing yards against and second overall in yards per game allowed (276.8, just behind the Chargers).

And they tied for third in takeaways. [ BET THE GAME LIVE PLAY BY PLAY AT Bovada AND GET A FREE $25 BET ON THE GAME + A 10% BONUS ]

Looking for a zany trend working against Green Bay? In 13 games after the Packers have played the Bears, they have covered only three times (3-8-2 ATS). Is that just a fluke or a letdown spot after playing their hated division rivals?

Pittsburgh is 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS its past nine games away from Heinz Field, are 7-1 SU vs NFC North teams since 2005 and is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games overall.

A veteran defense and a QB in Ben Roethlisberger with two titles under his belt are never intimidated on the road. Of course, the Packers have also just won four consecutive road games as well.

ATS and underdog machines

Pittsburgh is 8-1 ATS in its last nine games as an underdog (winning seven times straight up) and they are 9-1 ATS in their past 10 playoff games since 2005. When the Steelers area dog of 3 points or less, they are 13-5 ATS in 18 games since 2004.

The Steelers are also 3-0 SU vs the Packers since 1998 and 6-2 SU against them dating back to 1980.

Over the top total betting

Another unusual trend, given the stout Steeler defense is the overwhelming angle on the OVER. In their past 17 playoff games, the Steelers have played OVER the number 15 times!
