Wild Card Saturday NFL Betting
The New Orleans Saints begin their Super Bowl defense as huge NFL betting favorites on Saturday when they take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round.
At 11-5 the Saints may have finished with a better record than the 7-9 Seahawks, but since Seattle won their division they get to host Saturday's game. The Seahawks became the first sub-.500 team to ever make the postseason this year, which is just one reason why they are 10.5-point home underdogs versus the Saints at Bovada.
Seattle only won two of their final seven games during the regular season, but snuck into the playoffs after a 16-6 win over St. Louis in Week 17 as a 3-point home underdog. The Seahawks were by far the lowest scoring team to make the playoffs this season and their sub-standard offense doesn't even know who will be leading them this weekend.

Starting QB Matt Hasselbeck missed the regular season finale with an injured hip and Charlie Whitehurst started in his place. Both quarterbacks have been taking reps during practice this week and the starter will be a game-time-decision. [ Matchup stats and live Wild Card odds ]
The Saints have a few injuries as well heading into this weekend, especially at running back. Chris Ivory led the Saints in rushing during the regular season, but he won't play a down in the postseason after being placed on IR with an injured foot. Pierre Thomas was also placed on IR this week.
Leading receiver Marques Colston is expected to play after missing Week 17 due to knee surgery. [ See Colston prop odds at Bovada where his over-under for receiving yards is 66.5 ]
This game is a regular season rematch as the Saints and Seahawks met in New Orleans in Week 11. The Saints dominated that game and won 34-19 as an 11-point favorite. Drew Brees passed for 382 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, while Hasselbeck started for Seattle and had one TD.
In Saturday's other Wild Card matchup the Jets and Colts meet up in the postseason for the second consecutive year.
New York and Indianapolis faced off in last year's AFC Championship Game, which the Colts won 30-17 as a 7.5-point favorite. The Colts finished off the regular season with four straight wins and they are a 2.5-point favorite versus the Jets.
How well the Jets perform on Saturday will likely depend upon Mark Sanchez's shoulder. Sanchez sat out Week 17 due to a sore right shoulder, but he will start this weekend. In last season's playoff matchup Peyton Manning outdueled Sanchez with 337 yards passing and three touchdowns to Sanchez's 257 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
The total for this game was posted at 44.5 and it could be an easy OVER for totals bettors if the history between the Colts and Jets means anything. Both the Colts and Jets were 4-1 OVER in their last five regular season games, and in the last seven matchups between them the OVER is 6-1.
