Back-to-Backs Have Been Unkind to Bruins

Two teams currently on the outside looking in will face off tonight when the Bruins play the Kings in their final 2016-17 regular season game in California. Boston was finally dealt its first loss since management ditched Claude Julien, a 5-3 quacker with the Ducks last night, and will look to curb the trend that’s seen the Bruins lose eight of their last 10 matchups on the second half of a back-to-back.

SHARK BITES
  • The visiting team is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games in this matchup.
  • The total has gone OVER in 9 of the Bruins' last 11 games.
  • The Bruins are 4-1 SU since the firing of head coach Claude Julien.

It looks like the bubble has burst on the Bruins’ new coach boost and it’s likely that the team we saw concede five last night is the one we’ll be seeing for the rest of the season. That said, I don’t expect a slobber-knocker tonight as the two teams who have given up the fewest shots per game this season go head-to-head.

Since the break, Kings games have averaged just 4.67 goals per game and they’ve allowed just 24 shots per game at the Staples Center. Over the course of their last 10 meetings, the Bruins have averaged a paltry 1.9 goals and their power play has operated at an anemic 7.69 percent.

The UNDER feels like a lock tonight and when you consider how bad the B’s have been on back-to-backs, the Kings are probably a good bet too.
