Washington Has Doled Out Capital Punishment Against Bruins

After a wild night in the NHL, we have just three games on the schedule this evening – awesome. Nothing like a 14-game schedule to get you pumped up for hockey again only to get knocked back down to earth the next day when you realize just how bad the NHL schedule is. The Capitals and Bruins were both involved in that circus yesterday and will face off today at the Verizon Center.

SHARK BITES
  • The Capitals are 1-4 SU on the 2nd half of their last 5 back-to-backs, the Bruins are 0-5.
  • The Bruins are 0-7 SU in their last 7 games against the Capitals.
  • The Capitals are 10-2 SU in their last 12 games at home against teams with losing records.

It’s clear that neither of these teams has been successful on the second halves of back-to-backs so let’s consider other factors like the one where Washington is the best team in the league and Boston is pretty bad. Stud goalie Braden Holtby got the night off last night and will be ready to lace them up against a Bruins team he owns a .948 save percentage against in 12 career starts.

I don’t need much else to persuade me to back the Caps tonight but just for fun, let’s take a look at some more comparables where Washington is 19-6 SU at home and Boston is 10-13 SU on the road against teams from the East. The Bruins may be on a three-game winning streak but I think this is just Claude Julien’s last gasp.

The Bru’ Crew could be getting blown out tonight and it doesn’t seem like a terrible idea to take the Capitals on the puckline.
