On the verge of an embarrassing sweep from the playoffs, the Chicago Blackhawks will attempt to become the fourth team in NHL history to come back from a 3-0 playoff series deficit. Updated series prices had the ’Hawks as +750 in the best-of-seven but considering they’ll have to win four straight games, and two in Nashville – those odds are garbage.
Oddsmakers opened the Blackhawks as +105 underdogs – crazy. If you’d been given those odds a week ago, you would’ve been laughing all the way to the bank to take out a line of credit to put on Chicago. With that analysis, it would sound like I’m backing the ’Hawks tonight but considering how good the Preds have looked, I have my worries.
Nashville racked up 49 shots in Game 3 and despite it being the closest contest yet, it’s given me confidence that the Preds can close it out in Smashville this evening.
If that’s going to happen, Pekka Rinne will have to continue to be Nashville’s star and the Preds will have to keep up the scoring trend at Bridgestone Arena that made them one of the best home teams in the league – offensively.
