Ducks, Hawks on NHL Odds
It’s as though oddsmakers are ignoring the excellent home record of the Ducks, who will be slight underdogs when they host the defending-champion Blackhawks on Friday night at the Honda Center.
Chicago (-115 at Sportsbook.ag) sports a solid 6-4-2 record on the road, but they are going up against equal foes in Anaheim (-105 at Sportsbook.ag). The teams are both playing .500 hockey and have split the previous four games head-to-head.
The Blackhawks are 2-2 on a current six-game road swing, but they were beaten by former Chicago goaltender Antti Niemi and the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Wednesday.
Anaheim (7-3-1 at home), meanwhile, has lost five straight and back-to-back at home; four of those losses came by one goal, and two defeats were in overtime. This is the reason for the underdog status in the contest, but you can’t silence an offensive threat like Anaheim for very long.
The return of veteran defenseman Andy Sutton should help the Ducks cut down on their goals allowed, while a healthy Teemu Selanne would give a needed lift up front. If this comes to fruition it’s possible the underdog Ducks could be a good wager on Friday.
The teams have only gone OVER the posted total in three of 10 matchups, which should give a leg up to UNDER bettors in this one.
